Looking at Progress

I have to admit, the hand quilting on this little quilt is going rather slowly.  It took awhile for me to figure out how to get started and then I changed my mind and went with something else altogether.  The decision making part just annoys me when I'm in the mood to get started and my mind is having fun playing with all the 'what-if's'.  Hopefully I'll get in a groove here in a few days and start making some real progress.
Hand Quilting Progress
There are 21 completed blocks now for the Scrap Attack project!  I need to trim them down of course, but they are coming together very well.  It only reaffirms what I love about scrappy quilts--the surprise and pleasure I get from impulsively putting two random pieces of fabric together that I would never  purposely PLAN on putting together.  I saw a (gorgeous, stunning) quilt over at Sew French back in December that I am loosely using for my template.  Her quilt is in solids, very sophisticated, modern, yada, yada, yada while mine is scrappy and well, not modern at all.*wink  I didn't even realize I had her fabulous quilt in the back of my mind while I was sewing these blocks together until I started laying a few blocks out together and a light bulb went off.  So you know, I like to give credit where credit is due!  I will need to study her quilt a little more to get the layout figured out because the layout really intrigued me at the time.
Hmmmm....

  3. Ha HA! Here I am drooling over your quilt thinking I should widdle my scraps down a make one like yours and you were following my lead. This is too funny!

And I do believe I will cut my next scrap quilt into a more organized color scheme. Two of the three I am working on, now, are pretty much every color in the book. Love yours!

  6. Just stumbled onto your blog - like the scrap attack quilt idea may need to adopt a similar project. Read your entry for organizing your sewing area - mines about like yours only mines not organized. Sometimes I wish I would have bought 50 totes the same size then they would be all the same and the lids would fit. Sometimes I want to start cutting - but what - 5 inch, 2.5 inch squares or 2.5, 2 inch strips. Then I just put the scraps back into the sack. Also think about sharing - getting different fabric - surely I don't have that fabric. Been working on a mini Dresden plate quilt, but that can't use up to many scraps - think the scraps multiply. Take care from cold northern Iowa - Robert.

  7. Thanks Robert! I used to cut particular size strips from my scraps, but then they were never the right size when I needed them. This project has really made me think.:)
