This Feels Very Good

I was almost giddy when I put the final stitch in my last worry basket this weekend!  Woohoo!  I actually stuck with it and finished up all 292 'Trick or Treat' Blackbird Design baskets!
The last of the applique baskets!
Such a feeling of accomplishment.  And what's crazy is that there is more hand work yet to do for this quilt top!  (Yes, I did finally make up my mind about that.)  There are still setting triangles to applique!  I started this quilt in the fall of 2009 with a determination to not ever let the sheer amount of hand work involved intimidate me.  The middle cut-outs of my basket are not all perfect squares.  Not all of my baskets are exactly centered and/or lined up on the diagonal either.  How, oh how, to adequately explain my complete lack of concern for these little details?*wink  Done is just a very, very good feeling.
Sweetness!  This should be all of the 292 baskets.
I would have started on the setting triangles this evening while I was still in the 'finished up' excitement mode, but we decided to go visit some friends after we got an invitation for home-made ice-cream.  How could we possibly decline during this hot month of August?

Oh yeah, I'm linking up to Kathy's Slow Sunday Stitching again.  Go check out what everybody else is up to these hot summer days!

  1. Wow, congratulations! That is one heck of a lot of handwork! Finishing does feel so good, doesn't it? Good for you for sticking with it. I have a feeling you're going to LOVE this quilt when you get it finished. And the imperfections are what give any of us (and our quilts) our own personality!

  3. 292 basket blocks, that is amazing! Congratulations on sticking with the project. I have had this quote written down for a while now and I think I have seen it on your blog too...
If you can't see it from a galloping horse, it's not worth fretting over. So don't worry about the little things just concentrate on the bigger picture.
