Tearing Blocks Apart Isn't Crazy, It's Being Frugal

It's good to have hand work all prepped and ready to go.  That's a given for my life with all the craziness of being self-employed, my kids busy schedules and then there is our unexpected drop-in company.  Okay, sometimes the company is all planned out in advance, but still.  What about The Quilting?*wink

Taking apart the 1st four sections is easy

Since I'm having company all this week and possibly into the next week I thought I would try something different to change things up a bit.  I've had this stack of blocks for at least 6 years or so.  They were something that I thought would end up being a simple scrappy quilt--in gorgeous fabrics that would totally carry the design etc. etc.  Wrong.  Together these blocks look like a blended up mis-mash of yucko.

The rest is taking for---ever....

After numerous attempts through the years to try and figure out how to rescue these blocks, I've come to the inescapable decision that they need to be completely torn apart into the little half-square triangle squares and then I'll start over.  Do something better.

Okay, crazy decision.  Everybody is looking at me with my busy little seam ripper and I can see the questions in their eyes that they are (thankfully) too polite to ask. Waaay too much time involved in destruction efforts.   What do I have to lose though?  I have time to spare that I can't exactly be working in my quilt room and I love some of these fabrics too much to just throw the entire project away (plus these blocks were just a little too carelessly pieced for my satisfaction).  What would you do?  Oh yeah, this is the good part--my husband thinks I'm trying to save money on fabric and be frugal......
