The Giveaway Winner and The Antique Wall-Hanging Progress

Today is the day I'm supposed to announce the winner of last weeks giveaway! So without further ado, the winner chosen by the random generator is Jacqueline, with her comment 'I seem to make some change to every project I make. Just want to make it "mine" I guess. Thanks for a chance.' I'll be needing a mailing address so the pattern pack can find its new owner!
My antique {block} wall-hanging
And here's another completion for my uh... quilt top drawers? I don't think there's time to actually finish, finish with binding etc. during this month, but it could happen. Maybe. If pigs started flying and my kids decided they liked to do housework and yard work. Besides, there are other quilts in the lineup before I could possibly justify working on this one!

The antique quilt block that started off this whole quilting adventure has some blue dye issues which makes me reluctant to use it in a full sized to-be-used quilt. But who says it can't find a good home in a smallish look-at-me sort of quilt? I picked up the hand pieced quilt block on our travels to Oklahoma a couple years ago so it has some sentimental pulls for me. I tried to honor the antique/vintage looking style of the block but also went a little crazy with my folky sort of applique. Just because I could. And I'm thinking it will look great on the only other open wall in my quilt room. Which hopefully isn't going anywhere, so why bother rushing?

  1. No need to rush other than the anticipation of having it hanging so you can see it and enjoy it every day!

    Congrats to the winner.

  4. You can always leave it on the wall while you "contemplate quilting designs" however long that might take, lol!

  5. There's no rule that says a quilt has to be *finished* before it can be hung up. Enjoy it now as much as you want!
Though I'm looking forward to shots of it as you quilt it...

  7. A perfect use of an antique block. A bit of antique yet it still says "I'm Audrey's quilt." Love it!

  9. Love the fact that you used that one antique block and built an "Audrey" quilt around it. Hanging it on your wall while the quilt waits it's turn sounds like a good idea to me.

  10. Spot on, I reckon. I love how the little dark red triangles glow amongst all the paler tones, and how that is echoed by the little bits of red in the applique.
