So here we are, just days from Christmas. I am honestly starting to panic as I still need to do that last minute Christmas shopping. Not feeling very organized this year!

Looking at the pineapple blocks! |
On the quilting front, things are still plugging along, although very slowly. I finished up all the applique stitching on my pineapple blocks and will hopefully get started on the connecting blocks here soon. It's all been happening in small blocks of time that otherwise would be wasted while cruising on the Internet or whatever. These blocks were something that I seriously wanted done before the beginning of the new year so I could jump into the next part without anything hanging up forward progress. Some of the background fabrics can look a little dingy in the wrong lighting, so will probably have to work a little harder with the remaining colors in the quilt to resolve that.

A new little Christmas runner |
And I also finished the little Christmas runner. It's been a fun looking addition to the holiday decor and makes me wonder why I don't make a longer one for the dining room table! Oh well. Maybe next year. This was about the extent of my holiday sewing inspiration for now.
I just haven't had time to take new pictures of the Christmas quilts this year, but
Festival of Trees is still my fave of all favorites. I absolutely adore seeing it out this time of year. Other quilts that are starting to show up every December are the
Red and Green Applique quilt and also the
Log Cabin Runner which makes a great setting for our miniature Christmas tree at the kitchen table. Hmm... Just these few quilts makes for a very festive quilty feeling. I wonder how this happened? Me. The girl who never, ever intended to make seasonal quilts is slowly starting to have a Christmas quilt repertoire? Will wonders never cease! Linking up to the
Christmas Quilt Show over at
Love Laugh Quilt blog!
Wishing you a very merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
ReplyDeleteWarm Greetings Aurora
Your wreathed pineapples look better every time I see them and they are always wonderful. I was also amused you're developing seasonal collections of quilt. I, too, have always avoided Christmas-exclusive quilts but now wish I had a couple that just come out a few months of the year. Hmm. May be a project for next year.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I'm busy moving projects forward. It's a bit surprising how much quilting is happening this month.
Yum! Those pineapple blocks look good enough to eat. Your color choices really sing in these. I can't believe how relaxed I am this year about Christmas. Last year we decided to do donations instead of gifts and I'm enjoying this Christmas season so much more. Hope you get some quiet stitching time in all the holiday scramble. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeletelove your pineapple blocks. sometimes I feel like making xmas quilts but I usually only have that feeling in the xmas season
ReplyDeleteI was the same way concerning Christmas quilts! Your pineapples are coming along nicely! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt! It's heart warming and welcome-y! I've never seen this block before. Would you share the source? Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThank you! The pineapple pattern comes from one of my favorite books called 'The Standard Book of Quilt Making and Collecting' by Marguerite Ickis. It had two printings 1949 and 1959 so you'll have to look for a used book!
DeleteLove love love your festival trees and the red and green applique! You are amazing.
ReplyDeleteCute little runner.
ReplyDeletePineapple's are interesting and the table runner is sweet!
ReplyDeleteLove the pineapples - they just make me smile!
ReplyDeleteAren't pineapples the symbol of hospitality? Your applique blocks do look very welcoming. Have a very Merry Christmas and a joyous new year.
ReplyDeleteIt's kind of fun to have special quilts just for the holidays, I think! Your little table topper looks great, very festive :)
ReplyDeleteNice to see your progress. I'd also like to finish up some loose ends of quilts before the new year. I want to start out fresh and not have lingering "almost finishes".
ReplyDeleteLOL, I've started to think that I need a "Christmas repertoire" too! It is cozy to revisit old friends every year. Happy holidays!
ReplyDeleteLove your little Christmas runner and enjoyed seeing your other "Christmas" quilts. Good luck getting all you want to get done before the new year. I've actually let a lot of projects drop and will resume with the new year. Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteLove the little Xmas runner. One of the first experiments in quilting for me ages ago was a table runner for Xmas. I drag it out each year and you know what? I never notice any of my mistakes and flaws... just that it is red and green and works for the holidays :)
ReplyDeletePretty blocks on your design wall. You always have so much going on :)
