You know how it is with inspiration. It can hit at the oddest times. The pic of this old quilt has been on my wall for a couple
years.

Lovely inspiration on my bulletin board |
I'm supposed to be cleaning, packing and getting ready to do some of this for the weekend. {insert whiny face}. Camping is not my most favorite thing to do in the world although I usually enjoy it enough after I've arrived and settled in.

Time to go camping! |
Instead... I'm doing something with this. Procrastinate much? Oh no, not me. Never ever in a million years.

Playing with some applique... |
And hmmm... Do you think it might ease the pain of having getting to go camping in the boonies? I'm also packing a lot of Pepsi. That generally helps keep my mood up there where I can actually smile while I'm helping my kids forage for the marshmallows.
That is a lovely quilt! I really like the colors you have chosen. It will be another one of your beautiful creations! Camping is like moving, you have to take so much stuff! But I hope you have fun.
ReplyDeleteI was never an enthusiastic camper either : ) Couldn't sleep very well ...enjoy what you can ! :) The applique looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love camping but don't get to go anymore. I always found it relaxing to get away. Camping and quilting sounds like heaven to me.
ReplyDeleteI'll only go camping somewhere I can plug in a sewing machine. You're on your way to a new beautiful quilt. Have fun with the marshmallow hunts.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the camping thing, but I think it would take something a little stronger than Pepsi to keep a smile on my face, even if I was hunting for marshmallows! Looks like you have great distractions to take with you - have fun.
ReplyDeleteI love camping and roughing it but I do not like to do it on a busy weekend - give me the mountains and rustic parks anytime and I love it -- as long as I have my little motorhome with water, a bathroom and a kitchen LOL and of course the generator helps if there is no electric hookups :) sure do "rough" it huh, love that quilting block that you show.
ReplyDeleteI know the most important thing I bring camping to keep a smile on my face is handstitching. From my perspective you're not procrastinating at all - you're getting ready to go camping! I can't wait to see this project develop - what a great project!!
ReplyDeleteI can see why that picture is on your ideas board.....lovely quilt. As for the camping, good luck and I hope you get to do a little stitching.
ReplyDeleteWe used to camp with our young children way before I'd discovered the joy of quilting. If I'd go now, (kicking and screaming, I'm sure), I would definitely have to have plenty of stitching with me. I just cannot sit around a campfire for hours and days and chat.
ReplyDeleteFind something enjoyable about each day, and enjoy your family and the stitching. :)
I wish you fantastic weather for camping. We just got back Monday after a week of camping in the rain. Luckily I took lots of applique projects with me and got three of them done. Enjoy. Hugs
ReplyDeleteUmm...couldn't it just be considered prepping handwork for the car ride? That is preparation not procrastination! It's all a matter of perspective. Have a fun time camping with the family.
ReplyDeleteThe beginning of another fabulous quilt!
ReplyDeleteI just finished making this quilt from a pattern from Dawn at Collector With a Needle.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing your version. I don’t envy your camping trip.
Your kiddos will have good memories from camping---I do from my childhood. It is always harder on the organizer---your role. I always want to start something new, when it is time to be cleaning or preparing for the holidays. You know you won't have much time to yourself. Hopefully you have enough Pepsi and the kids entertain themselves!! Enjoy your stitching
ReplyDeleteIf you're taking that beautiful new project Audrey - you can probably pretty much ignore the fact you're in the middle of nowhere all weekend and just focus on that!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind going camping if I could be assured of some quiet time for stitching.
ReplyDeleteLove your appliqué - such a lovely quilt. My dream is to have a caravan so we can "escape" whenever we want. I shall think of you with envy and you can think of me.....at home.....
ReplyDeletePepsi makes everything better!
ReplyDeleteLove the sawtooth-type border on this block. I'm sure you'll enjoy the camping once you get there!
ReplyDeleteI hope your camping trip went well and you got to applique while you were out!
