I too am likewise challenged, having to move furniture to the sides of two adjoining rooms to make room to lay a big quilt out. I try to do it when there's no one else home, but sometime it doesn't work out quite that way. I'm intrigued by the concept of pin basting before hand quilting. So much easier than thread basting, but how do you get your frame around all those pins?
Sandyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04926328455712508539noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5297789041481934828.post-15998180395788085742013-10-28T06:50:44.917-07:002013-10-28T06:50:44.917-07:00Yum! I used to baste my quilts, but have recently changed over to spraying them (temporary textile glue), which I now find very handy. Have only used it for machine quilting though, but will use it on my next handquilting project too, just to give it a try. Will baste the edges of the sanwich tough, because of course it has to stay together longer than the machine quilted quilts. Can't wait to be handquilting again, it has been a while for me and love it. Your quilt is beautiful, love those reds! I wish I could see it in person.
It looks like you were confident enough to use some fabrics that others might have questioned. But your variety of fabrics for the hourglass blocks gives this quilt excitement and charm. You should be very proud of it, and I'm sure you'll enjoy quilting it.
I'm not participating in the Bloggers' Festival, but I read about your two entries. Both are very impressive. I enjoying reading the stories, following your decision making.
I'm glad that I visited your blog today. I'll be back. I'm envious of your quilting skills !!Vivianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04255216150275846123noreply@blogger.com
