Crumb Block Play

I didn't get much quilting done over the weekend. Too much going on and besides, my neck has been stiff for days. Makes it hard to do any of my hand quilting or hand work projects. It's finally starting to feel almost normal today which makes me very happy!
Playing with crumbs...
The little bit I did was just pure playtime. Someone told me crumb blocks are addictive and you know, they might be right... I've been sewing similar colored bits of fabric together until I can trim to a 4" block.
Auditioning the next round..
As you can see, I started with four red blocks, added two blue ones and then kept going around the red center with some mixed black/brown blocks-kind of a log cabin type thing? I'm just winging it really, until I get bored with what's going on!
Maybe an extra bit of color?
Anyway, here it is. Crumb block playtime. Good distraction from a lot of things that needed to be accomplished, including the monster pile of Christmas cards I was trying to get addressed and ready to send out.*wink

  1. Crumb blocks are a favourite of mine. They do add a lot of interest to a quilt and use up a lot of small bits and pieces in the process.

  2. I had never heard of a crumb block, but it looks like an ideal way to use up leftover bits and pieces. And I like where yours are going!

  3. Oh that does look like a good distraction. I may have to use that technique next time I feel the need to procrastinate! Thanks for the good idea!

  10. I have seen crumb block quilts that turn out very interesting. Just seems like so much sewing and so many seams. Let us know how you like the process.

  11. OMG Audrey, at first I thought you meant the whole thing was four inches and I was sure you'd lost your mind! LOL !!

I have a basket of "crumbs" but I don't think I have the patience to sew them all together.

  13. Crumb blocks are a lot of fun. Stiff necks can sure slow you down.

  14. Hi Audrey! I just caught up to all your posts, and I can't believe how much I've missed. So much going on here, the comfort quilts, your Happy Flowers pattern, Cactus Basket, tulips, a give away-Gah! I missed it, and the Crumb blocks thing which sounds like fun!
Very inspiring! I'm barely getting the presents wrapped over here, ha!

  20. Great distraction! I read the other day about people messing their necks up looking at their phones all the time and wondered if we hand quilters might be doing the same. I surely hope not!
