Loving These Dresdens!

It's been crazy busy around here, but not so much on the quilting front. I guess all the Valentines Day stuff finally motivated me to start sewing the Dresdens on my Flowers and Flying geese border.

I can totally see why people fall in love with Dresdens after working on these scrappy pink ones. Loving how this looks so far! Only three more borders to go, but it isn't going super fast for me. Probably because I went ahead and tacked the bottom of the Dresdens down to the border fabric. There's just too much stretch from the bias to cut the back out of the applique just yet and I need it nice and secure when I sew it to the main part of the quilt.

  2. I've never attempted a Dresden but I do admire them. They look so pretty on the patterned background instead of just plain white. Take care, Byrd

  3. I find joy in working on the classics, whether it's log cabins or baskets or Dresden plates. Enjoy the process, Audrey. These are pretty, pretty blocks.

  5. They look wonderful, Audrey. These 12 piece Dresdens are my favourite size too. Not too skinny, not too fat! It's going to be great. :D

  6. Your border is going to be very striking. The curves should play against the angles of the geese

  9. Beautiful Dresdens! And what a striking border this will be. (Yes, I agree, basting/securing that edge is a good idea.) I don't think I've ever seen a border done like this, and it's a great idea!
